Did you know there are over 2,500 licensed ATFs (Authorised Treatment Facilities) in the UK, and millions of vehicles are scrapped each year?
The vehicle recycling industry is thriving, and Scrap Local is proud to be part of its digital transformation.
As Scrap Local has expanded, we’ve prioritised efficiency, ease, and transparency at every stage of the vehicle recycling process by introducing smarter tools and streamlined systems to benefit everyone involved.
Scrap Local was launched during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic to give people a simple way to scrap their vehicles online.
From the start, our goal was to connect customers with trusted collectors through a reliable, easy-to-use platform. That approach quickly grew into a full-service digital network used by agents across the country.
We developed our systems to track leads, manage collections, and help agents grow their businesses. What started as a one-man operation soon evolved into a national platform.
The journey wasn’t always smooth. Like many businesses during the pandemic and beyond, Scrap Local faced its share of challenges. But Martin stayed committed. He knew that to truly grow and create something that lasted, the business needed to evolve.
That’s when the opportunity to take on a site in Darwen came along. It wasn’t a simple decision, but it felt like the right move.
Martin wanted Scrap Local to be more than just a digital platform. A physical location gave us the ability to handle vehicles ourselves, improve turnaround, and offer more to the people we work with.
Our scrapyard in Darwen is a central hub for Scrap Local’s operations, helping us speed up vehicle processing, depollution, and storage.
This space has transformed how we operate. We’re now able to manage leads whilst actively breaking down vehicles, identifying salvageable parts, and preparing cars that are no longer roadworthy.
We recognised that many vehicles still had value, as some were suitable for breaking, others for repair.
This led to the launch of:
Salvage Local is a private auction platform currently accessible to a select group of trusted agents. Developed to streamline the resale and breaking process, our platform enables professional buyers to access vehicles with potential for repair or dismantling, all managed directly by Scrap Local.
Whilst we’re still in the development stage, Salvage Local remains invite-only for agents. However, once we’ve finalised the platform’s core features and user experience, we aim to open it to a wider audience.
If you’re interested in the next evolution of salvage vehicle buying, keep an eye out. Exciting updates are on the horizon!
While the auction platform is still under development and not yet available to the public, you can still purchase quality used parts through our Parts Local eBay store.
This is our new storefronts for used parts. Customers can buy quality, second-hand vehicle parts online via:
Our Parts Local website is coming soon!
Our digital platform is still at the heart of everything we do. You can continue to scrap your car online with ease. But now, our physical operations give us more control over every stage, from collection to processing.
Whether you’re an agent, a buyer, or simply looking to scrap a car, Scrap Local is ready to help.
Scrap Local has always been about doing things differently. We’re not just another scrap company, we’re building something bigger. Our yard in Darwen marks a new chapter, but we haven’t forgotten our roots.
With Salvage Local and Parts Local now live, we’re expanding our services in ways that give back more to our agents, customers, and community.
And with our team, tech, and growing network, we’re ready for what comes next.
