If you’re a London resident, you may have heard about the new scrappage scheme that was announced by the London Mayor Sadiq Khan on 22nd Jan 2020.
In the attempt to make London an emission free zone, the government sets to increase scrappage scheme payments to upto £9,500 for vans that don’t meet the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) standards.
The scrappage scheme is available for eligible charities & businesses with up to 50 employees to replace vehicles that don’t meet the required emission levels.
The grant is available for scrapping up to 3 older, more polluting vans & minibuses and aims to help business owners run cleaner vehicles around the capital.
As a community, homes & businesses in London must prepare for the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) which will run in the North & South London circular in 2021.
The London-wide, Low emission zone standards will also be tightened in October 2020 which means if your vehicle doesn’t meet the ULEZ emission standards, you will be required to pay a daily charge to drive within ULEZ zones.
Scrap Local has had many calls about scrapping their vehicles with the ULEZ scrappage scheme and can confirm, our official collection partners can help you recycle your scrap van in a compliant way for the grant.
Official Partners are Authorised Treatment Facilities and can issue Certificates of Destruction which you will need in order to claim the grant.
When you purchase your new vehicle, you must ensure you are eligible before assuming you will receive the payment.
The scrappage payment of upto £9,500 is paid to you by the government as a grant.
This is not the amount you will receive from Scrap Local, our partners or scrapyards on our directory.
However, you may receive a quote and payment on top of this grant from the scrap yard. This payment is separate and paid to you directly from the scrap dealer itself.
Most customers donate their van/car on scrappage schemes as payments may effect the amount payable via the grant.
With the Scrappage Scheme payment, you must meet criteria, vehicle(s) you intend to scrap must be:
