How to Notify the DVLA When Scrapping Your Car.

When you scrap your car through an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF), it’s essential to inform the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to avoid penalties. Here’s how:

Complete the V5C Logbook: Fill out the relevant section of your vehicle’s V5C logbook. For logbooks issued after April 2019, complete Section 4; for those issued before, complete Section 9.

Provide ATF Details: Include the name and address of the ATF handling your vehicle’s disposal.

Notify the DVLA: You can inform the DVLA online or by post:

Online: Visit the DVLA’s online service and enter your vehicle registration number and the 11-digit reference number from your V5C.

By Post: Send the completed section of your V5C to:

SA99 1BA

After processing, the DVLA will update their records, and you should receive a confirmation letter within four weeks.
