Yes! You don’t need your logbook (V5C) to scrap your car with us. Although, we require you to provide our collection agent with: Keys to your vehicle & a Valid Photo ID, such as a driver’s licence or passport.
Once your vehicle has been collected, you will be required to inform the DVLA of where the vehicle has been scrapped. On request, we can provide you with this information.
Yes we can! If you’re at work or out of town, we can still have your vehicle collected. If the registered keeper is not present, we will require valid photo ID from someone you can trust to hand over the vehicle.
The value of your scrap car can vary according to current market prices, but typically the value of a scrap car can be calculated through the metal weight of the vehicle and the location at which it is to be collected.
We don’t take your car’s condition into account when making a quote for scrap, so you won’t have to worry about being knocked down on price for any bumps, scratches or marks. However if your vehicle is younger than 8 years old we may be able to offer you more than scrap value.
Yes. Scrap Local provides free vehicle collection across our UK collection network. There are no standard call-out, administration or collection fees deducted from your agreed price. We will arrange a suitable collection with you once your vehicle details and price have been confirmed.
Yes. Once we have confirmed the details of your vehicle with you, your agreed Scrap Local price is guaranteed provided the vehicle matches the description and condition you have given us. If anything changes before collection, such as major parts being removed or the vehicle condition changing, just let us know.
Payment is made securely by bank transfer after your vehicle has been collected and confirmed. We do not pay cash for scrap vehicles. Your collection team can confirm the expected payment timing for your booking.
You should make sure the DVLA is notified when your vehicle is transferred. If an eligible vehicle is permanently destroyed at an Authorised Treatment Facility, a Certificate of Destruction can be issued. Vehicles handled for salvage, repair or resale may follow a different process.
