Local Recycling Group has been built from the ground up.
There hasn’t been an easy path. It’s taken hard work, long days, and a commitment to doing things properly even when it would have been easier not to.
What started as a digital marketplace for scrapyards has evolved into a real operation with a clear direction.
We’ve invested in the yard, the machines, the systems, and the team to build something that actually works and continues to improve.
We’re not interested in running an average scrapyard.
The goal is to build a modern, process-driven operation where:
Standards are high
Equipment is looked after properly
People take pride in their work
And everyone moves forward together
We’re now at a stage where the business is growing, output is increasing, and we need the right people in place to help take it to the next level.
If you want to be part of something that is being built properly and still has a lot of growth ahead, this is that opportunity.
We’re on a mission to build the most efficient, process driven scrapyard in the UK.
The business is growing! Fast!
We’re increasing the number of vehicles we process, improving how the yard runs, and putting better systems in place to make everything more efficient.
This isn’t about rushing or cutting corners.
It’s about doing things properly, safely, and getting it right the first time.
We don’t believe in doing the same job twice because it wasn’t done properly the first time.
To move forward, we need the right people in the right roles.
This position is key to increasing output while maintaining high standards across the yard.
You won’t just be operating a machine, although this is your primary role.
You’ll be responsible for working in a way that is:
Safe at all times for yourself and others
Efficient in how tasks are carried out
Done properly the first time, without shortcuts
We expect operators to treat the machine as if it were their own.
Not just because of the cost, but because downtime slows the entire business down.
That means:
Being aware of your surroundings at all times
Taking care around pipes, materials and other machinery
Operating with control, not carelessness
Avoiding unnecessary damage from poor awareness or rushed work
It sounds simple, but not everyone works this way.
The right person understands that small mistakes on a machine can have big consequences for the whole team.
Health and safety is our number one priority.
As a director, my responsibility is simple:
Everyone goes home safe at the end of the day. Every single day.
That includes:
You
Your team
Everyone working on site
When you are operating a machine, you are responsible not just for your own safety, but for the safety of those around you.
We expect:
Full awareness of your surroundings at all times
Safe, controlled operation of machinery
Strict adherence to all site procedures and safe systems of work
Consideration for other workers, vehicles and hazards in the yard
There is zero tolerance for:
Unsafe operation
Careless behaviour
Ignoring procedures
Taking risks that could put yourself or others in danger
Any breach of health and safety or negligence will result in serious consequences, including dismissal.
You will be responsible for your machine day to day.
This includes:
Carrying out daily safety and maintenance checks before use
Keeping the machine clean inside and out
Regular greasing and basic upkeep
Reporting any faults, damage or issues immediately
When reporting issues, we expect:
A short video recording of the problem
A clear spoken explanation of what you’ve noticed
This helps us diagnose and resolve issues quickly and keeps everyone informed, including the team, HSE and engineers.
Photos are useful, but video gives full context and helps avoid delays or miscommunication.
To understand this role properly, it’s important to understand how the yard works.
Every vehicle that comes into the yard follows a structured process:
Arrival, intake and inspection
All vehicles are delivered to site by our company drivers & recovery agents, Every vehicle is allocated a QR code sticker, is inspected and documented
A recommended path is decided
This could be sold complete, broken for spares, or scrapped
Vehicles are depolluted and prepared
Then scheduled for parts removal or destruction
Vehicle destruction and processing
This is your primary role. Using the machine (Powerhand), you will be breaking down vehicles and separating materials
Materials are separated, stacked and stored
Ready for goods out
Loading out
Skips, wagons and artic vehicles are booked and loaded using the crane, which is also a key part of your role
We run a structured, process-driven yard and track activity to improve efficiency and performance.
As part of this role, you will be expected to:
Use our app and QR code system to log activity
Track jobs, vehicles and tasks as they move through the yard
Follow processes that keep the operation running smoothly
You must be comfortable using a phone or tablet to:
Scan QR codes
Log basic information
Follow simple app-based processes
Yes, your primary role is operating the 360º material handlers such as the Liebherr LH22 Powerhand, Fuchs MHL320 Scrap Handler and supporting machinery. But you’re also expected to help your team mates on the ground.
Watch Aaron, (our yard manager) at work in our Hyunda HX235 Powerhand - processing End of Life Vehicles (ELV's) in the yard.
